Verizon: 911 service restored for wireless callers

Verizon: 911 service restored for wireless callers FacebookTwitterEmail Police cruiser file photoContributed / Getty Images Verizon said a cut fiber was the culprit after multiple police agencies in Connecticut reported the carrier’s customers were having issues reaching 911 throughout the state. Chris Serico, a Verizon spokesman, said “a fiber cut” Thursday afternoon affected wireless calls to 911 centers. He said the issue has been resolved as of just after 7 p.m. “Our network engineers worked quickly to reroute network traffic to ensure prompt restoration,” Serico said. A notice sent through the state’s emergency alert system said the issue was only affecting Verizon users, and that the company was aware of the issue and working on it.
