FULTON COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - Work has begun on a new bridge connecting Sharp County to Fulton County, a bridge that many in the community believe is a lifesaver.
Crews have been out clearing some trees and preparing the area near the Humphreyâs Ford Bridge for its replacement. For James Tubbs and William Smith, volunteer firemen at the 9 Mile Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, itâs something theyâve been waiting on for years.

On Sunday, February 7, 2021, at approximately 1:50 p.m., firefighters from Ridge, Bay District, NAS Webster Field, and Valley Lee responded to the residence next to 18127 Trossbach Road in Dameron, for the reported garage on fire.
Crews arrived on the scene to find an approximately 30 x 30 garage with fire showing from the rear of the structure.
Firefighters worked aggressively and gained control of the fire within 10 minutes, with all units returning to service in approximately one hour.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal was requested to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at approximately 4:10 p.m., firefighters from NDW Webster Field, Ridge, Bay District and surrounding departments responded to the Ridge Elementary School located at 49430 Airedele Road in Ridge, for the report of smoke coming from a commercial building.
