RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Attorney General Mark Herring has filed a brief with the Supreme Court of Virginia asking for the court to dissolve the injunction blocking the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue along Monument Avenue in Richmond.
The outside prosecutor on the case filed a motion asking to revoke the bond for Sgt. Albin “Trevor” Pearson. Pearson is charged in the slaying of 43-year-old Henry K. “Hank” Berry III, who was shot in his Oyster Point home on Dec. 27, 2019.

Thursdayâs ruling by the Virginia Supreme Court in a Charlottesville Confederate statues case does not bode well for an attempt to restore monuments removed in Richmond last year, says a lawyer representing Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney.
A lawyer representing the plaintiffs who want to have the monuments that were removed by the city of Richmond put back disagrees.
The justices held Thursday that a 1997 amendment to state law preventing localities from removing war monuments could not be applied retroactively â overturning a circuit court decision that had blocked the city of Charlottesville from removing statues of Robert E. Lee and Thomas âStonewallâ Jackson.
