IF YOU wanted to go dancing in Brighton in the 1980s there were plenty of places to choose from, but where better than the Pink Coconut? The club in West Street was a Mecca for people looking for a fun night out – and over the years it welcomed its share of stars. In a previous life, the Pink Coconut was Sherry’s, the dance hall so famous it is even mentioned in Graham Greene’s Brighton Rock. It went on to become Paradox, Creation, Project, Tru and, most recently, Hedkandi. But its dancing days are over and the site is being demolished to make way for a new development with a hotel and flats.

There was a shock on the Corrie cobbles when David Platt s bid to buy back his childhood home was snatched away. David entered a furious bidding war alongside neighbour Tracy Barlow to buy 8 Coronation Street at an auction, and he was fuming when he lost out.
David, who was conned into giving up his house by scheming entrepreneur Ray Crosby, was shocked to find out that the final bid had been placed by a mystery buyer.
