BENGALURU: Many IT companies are giving a second round of salary increases and promotions within months of the previous one. Last year’s salary increment had initially been deferred on account of the pandemic and business downturn. But as business picked up in the second half of the year, increments were given with effect from late last calendar year or early this year. Now, with intense competition for talent, companies are rewarding employees again.

NEW DELHI: Leading corporate brands have started to tap private healthcare providers to conduct on-site and off-campus Covid vaccination drives for their entire workforce, with costs to be borne by them. The move comes with a little over a week left before inoculation coverage of all adults against Covid begins in the country.
Inoculation against the disease is key to India safely reopening large parts of its economy, production facilities and office complexes. Though not mandatory, companies are hopeful that all their employees will take the vaccines as India allows people of 18 and above to get immunised against coronavirus from May 1.

Indian IT firms are among the largest private employers in India. The top five companies Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies Ltd. employ a total of more than 1.2 million people, or a quarter of India’s 4.6 million workforce. TCS is the largest employer with 488,649 professionals, followed by Infosys with 259,169 people and Wipro 197,712.
