COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - District Attorney Mark Jones is taking on his first murder trial since being elected into office.
In May 2016, Richard Collier was shot and killed at a house party on Hodges Drive.
Authorities arrested Drevon Johnson for the death of Richard Collier. Johnson faces murder charges as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The trial, which began on Wednesday is expected to last throughout the week.

The Aramoho Whanganui Rowing Club flag has flown proudly over the past week, celebrating the club winning the women s premier coxless four championship title at Lake Ruataniwha.
While individual club rowers have been successful in various composite combinations over recent seasons, this was a complete Aramoho Whanganui crew, following the decision by officials to enable this event to be contested by individual clubs this year.
NORTHALLERTON CAMERA CLUB’S Zoom meeting on Monday, February 1, was very topical, given the mixed weather of late, as it was on the subject of Seasons . There was a plethora of weather-related images to feast the eye on and judge Alan Porrett had the onerous task of sifting through all 70 of them to find the best. The standard was so high that he judged 13 images to be outstanding, giving joint third place to Dave Coates for his entries entitled The Twisleton Erratic and (a lovely mixture of golden daffodils and dark clouds) – Spring Storm Light, St. Mary’s. There was also a one-man tie for second with Chris Morton’s hauntingly atmospheric Autumn Gold and shiver – inducing Lakeland Pass receiving the honours.
