PNVFI committees formed to help it operate better

NEWLY FORMED PHILIPPINE NATIONAL VOLLEYBALL FEDERATION, INC. has formed committees to handle its various affairs. TO allow it to operate as organized as possible, newly formed Philippine National Volleyball Federation, Inc. (PNVFI) formed committees to handle its various affairs. In the induction of its officers and first board meeting on Wednesday, the PNVFI set into motion its plans for local volleyball, including the appointment of officials tasked to lead the different groups within the organization. Leading the appointees was veteran volleyball stakeholder Anthony Liao, who was named chairman of the National Team Department of the PNVFI. Mr. Liao, commissioner of the Premier Volleyball League, will lead the process of forming the national teams, which will compete in international competitions.

Bacolod a priority in vaccine distribution, Galvez reiterates

SunStar + February 05, 2021 SECRETARY Carlito Galvez Jr., Malacañang’s vaccine czar, once again assured that Bacolod City is one of the priority cities of the national government in the vaccine distribution. “Don’t worry because Bacolod City is our priority after Cebu City and afterward, Iloilo City,” Galvez told the virtual special general assembly of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP), led by Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia as national president, Thursday, February 4. “All the highly urbanized cities (HUCs) are priorities; we will not leave anyone behind,” Galvez added. In November 2020, Galvez, who is also the chief implementer of the National Task Force Against Covid-19, had informed Leonardia via text message that Bacolod is among the local government units (LGUs) in the country poised to first receive the Covid-19 vaccine in case the national government gets a hold of its supply.

Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Jylyn Nicanor leads the contingent of Olympic hopefuls that will train under the care of Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, also the president of the Philippine Fencing Association. “This training camp in Ormoc City is very important for the fencers going to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament,” said national team mentor Amat Canlas in a phone interview.
