Cincinnati, Ohio - On May 5, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Cincinnati seized a shipment of jewelry deemed to be counterfeit by CBP’s Centers of Excellence and Expertise.
The package originated from Guangzhou, China, and was headed to a private residence in Akron, Ohio. Although it had a declared value of $80, the package held 383 items of jewelry bearing trademarks from Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, and Louis Vuitton. The jewelry would have been worth $866,120 had they been real.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Cincinnati recently seized a shipment of fake jewelry from China that was headed to a private residence in Akron.
The shipment contained 383 pieces of jewelry with trademarks of Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Had the jewelry been genuine, it would have been worth $866,120, Customs said in a news release.
Cincinnati Port Director Richard Gillespie said in the release that intellectual property is an important part of the U.S. economy and that customs is working to protect the economy and consumers.
“We continue to enjoy unprecedented growth in e-commerce, and this growth serves as an ever-larger driving force behind the U.S. and world economies,” he said.

nd Hermes items, have been seized by customs officers as they entered the US from China.
The total haul would have been worth almost $3.2m if genuine.
The shipments, intercepted in Cincinnati, Ohio, were were headed to private residences in Jeffersonville, Indiana, a
nd Miami Beach, Florida, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) statement.
One contained 543 bracelets and rings labeled as Cartier. In the other were 191 bracelets, rings, and earrings with Cartier and Hermes emblems.
