A Bolton firm is on a mission to change the way that people clean, to get rid of harmful chemicals and create healthy indoor eco-systems. We Are Probiotic, based in Columbia Mill off Bedford Street, has been founded by business partners Samantha Kitchen and Richard Greenwood to “change the chemical cleaning industry forever”. The pair say their products have many advantages over traditional, chemical based, cleaning products as they contain no ingredients that may do any harm, so are completely safe to use around pets and children. Samantha Kitchen, said: “The idea for this first came about when we went to schools to test pollution in the air. While this expansive stretch of forest and sand in the far north-east Fife has been urbanised in recent years to attract more families and visitors, nature remains its biggest draw. There are no dramatic cliffs or landmark hills but these five square miles of trees and a seemingly endless beach are the envy of many who live further afield. My own parents had seen beaches aplenty across Britain and spent every summer enjoying the longest and widest that Norfolk had to offer. Meteorite hunters: how we found the first bit of UK space rock in over 30 years

Wednesday 3 March started just like every other day in 2021. We were working from home. But by mid-afternoon, our colleague Luke had told us to pack our bags and fill our petrol tanks, just in case we got the OK to go on a meteorite hunt. Four days earlier, a fireball had been spotted flying through the skies in the south of England. The flash had been captured on local people’s doorbell video cameras. It was particularly bright – a sign that meteorites might be waiting to be found. A piece of rock flying through space is called a meteoroid. When it enters Earth’s atmosphere, causing a flash, what you see is a meteor. If any of the rock makes its way to Earth’s surface, then it becomes a meteorite.
