The City of Santa Rosa hosted its first distribution of free weather radios to families in fire prone areas. The NOAA radios are linked to the NOAA weather alert system and can broadcast important information during emergencies. Santa Rosa secured a grant from FEMA to provide 12,000 free radios to those who live in the Wildland Urban Interface. 2,000 radios were given away at the pop-up distribution site in Oakmont, and additional drive-thru pop-ups will be held in Rincon Valley, Fountaingrove, and Bennett Valley.
