Michael Corleone once raged, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in,” a sentiment with which Shadow Moon would certainly identify in Season 3 of “American Gods.”
Premiering Sunday on Starz, the new round catches up with ex-convict Shadow (Ricky Whittle) in hiding in his “normal life” and laboring happily in a Milwaukee foundry under the name Mike Ainsel when Wednesday (Ian McShane) – who is actually Shadow s father – literally pops back into his life.
As far as Shadow is concerned, he s done with Wednesday and his games, but Wednesday is determined to drag Shadow into his divine war effort to save humanity from the New Gods of Technology. A meeting with the god Wisakedjak (Graham Greene, “Dances With Wolves”) leaves Shadow with a prophecy about his destiny, one seemingly determined to take him to snowy Lakeside, Wisconsin. It is here wh
American Gods star Bruce Langley: Tech is a force for good
UPI News Service, 01/08/2021
British actor Bruce Langley said the modern deity Technical Boy, whom he plays on American Gods, personifies people s real-life, love-hate relationship with technology and those who advance it.
ADVERTISEMENT He is so conceited. He s such a wanker. I understand, yeah, sure, fine, but it would be difficult to name any other force on the planet that has positively affected the lives of more people in a more substantial way than technology, Langley told UPI in a recent phone interview. He s helped the world more than anyone else and nobody likes him. It s weird.

NEW YORK, Jan. 8 (UPI) British actor Bruce Langley said the modern deity Technical Boy, whom he plays on
American Gods, personifies people s real-life, love-hate relationship with technology and those who advance it. He is so conceited. He s such a wanker. I understand, yeah, sure, fine, but it would be difficult to name any other force on the planet that has positively affected the lives of more people in a more substantial way than technology, Langley told UPI in a recent phone interview.
Shadow Moon is the protagonist of
American Gods, of course, but he is also its soul. He’s at the center of the drama, the center of many plans, but he’s also someone who s constantly looking to find himself. Much like America itself, Shadow is always changing and often needs to grow when he least expects it. This is something Ricky Whittle, the actor behind Shadow, is very much aware of as the series (based on the book by Neil Gaiman) returns for Season 3, and according to Whittle, teases out Season 4.
How has
American Gods, having first aired in 2017, reinvented itself yet again? How has Whittle mapped out this part of Shadow’s life? Is Shadow’s journey of discovery emblematic of America itself? SYFY WIRE spoke with Whittle about all of this and much more before the season s Jan. 10 premiere.
