Florida flounders in opening round of SEC Championship
The Gators shot a collective 6-over-par and sit in a tie for ninth entering Thursday

The Gators men’s golf team struggled out of the gate in the SEC Championship Wednesday and shot 6-over-par. They are tied for ninth place with Missouri and Texas A&M and are 11 shots back of the leading Georgia Bulldogs.
Freshman Joe Pagdin shone among the field despite the collective disappointment from Florida. The England native shot a 2-under-par 68 and is in a tie for fifth place individually.
After a long season full of wins, losses and COVID-19 cancellations, the Florida Gators finally travel to St. Simons Island, Georgia, to compete in the 2021 SEC Championship.

The Gators wrapped up regular season play with a solid outing and finished in a tie for fourth at the Calusa Cup in Naples, Florida.
Florida tied with the Texas Longhorns at 11-over-par for the tournament and shot 6-over-par in the final round Tuesday.
