The season series between the Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators is truly mind-boggling.
Dallas went 3-0-5, taking 11 points in the eight-game set. Nashville had 10 points at 5-3-0. After the latest extra frame victory - a 1-0 overtime win for Nashville on Saturday at Bridgestone Arena - the Predators now sit three points ahead of the Stars in the battle for the final playoff spot in the Central Division.
Vasilevskiy blanks Stars again; Lightning win fourth straight
Blake Coleman converted a short-handed penalty shot and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 20 shots for his 26th career shutout to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-0 victory against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night. Ondrej Palat and Brayden Point also scored for Tampa Bay, which has won four consecutive games.

Currently, the Dallas Stars sit two points behind the Nashville Predators with two games in hand, giving them the slight edge in terms of points percentage. But as we’ve learned all too well this season, games in hand only matter if you actually win them, which might be tough when three of your remaining seven games are against the reigning Stanley Cup Champions.
Tonight, Dallas kicks off a seven game road trip to end the regular season, their first game coming against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Whereas last year’s Final was fairly even between the two teams, the season series has not been Tampa Bay have won four out of five, with the Stars’ sole victory being their most recent matchup over a month ago.
