DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH PROVIDENCE – Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Rhode Island increased by 47 on Monday, with two new deaths reported, the R.I. Department of Health said Tuesday. Hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients in the state totaled 67, a decline of five from the day before. Of those hospitalized, 15 were in an intensive care unit – a decline of two day to day – and 10 were on ventilators, the same number from Sunday. There have been 536,640 individuals fully vaccinated in Rhode Island, as well as 637,903 individuals that have received at least one dose of a vaccine. A total of 1.13 million doses have been administered in the state.

There have been 514,975 individuals fully vaccinated in Rhode Island to date, as well as 615,332 individuals that have received at least one dose of a vaccine. A total of 1.09 million doses have been administered in the state to date.

McKee announced Friday from the Statehouse steps that beginning on May 18, fully vaccinated adults will no longer need to wear a mask while indoors in Rhode Island. McKee also noted that COVID-19 business restrictions will be lifted on May 21, a week earlier than originally planned. Those restrictions include such things as the lifting of the limit on business capacity and social gatherings.

Hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients in the state totaled 101, a decline of three day to day. Of those hospitalized, 21 were in an intensive care unit, a rise of four day to day, and 16 were on a ventilator, a rise of one day to day. There have been 467,369 individuals fully vaccinated in Rhode Island, including people from other states that work or go to school in Ocean State, and there have been 1.02 million doses administered in the state to date.
