Police raid ‘sheesha’ bar, 9 arrested

Rawalpindi: City Police on Saturday raided an illegally run ‘sheesha’ bar operating in a private housing society and arrested nine accused besides recovering ‘Hukkas’, ‘sheesha’ substances, flavoured tobacco, coals and other items from their possession.
The police spokesman said that on a tip-off, Station House Officer Rawat Police raided the ‘sheesha’ centre along with his team set up in a private housing society.
The accused were identified as Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Ayan, Muzammil Hussain, Muhammad Omer, Abdul Hadi, Muhammad Ismail, Waleed and Mohsin Abbasi.
Police also recovered four ‘hukkahs’, eight hookah flavour tobacco and other items from them.
Police arrest dacoit after crossfire

Rawalpindi : Police on Saturday apprehended an injured dacoit after an exchange of fire in the limits of Rawat Police Station.
The police spokesman said a police team intercepted three suspected motorbikes during snap checking, adding, they tried to escape and opened fire.
One dacoit sustained bullet injuries while the others succeeded to fled away.
Police arrested the injured accused and shifted him to hospital.
Superintendent Police (SP) Saddar Zia-ud-Din Shah said the dacoits were involved in heinous crimes including dacoities, street crimes and bike lifting cases.
He said that those who managed to escape would soon be arrested.
NAB rebuts report on Khurram Humayun suicide

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday vehemently denied a news item published in daily ‘The News’ and ‘Jang’ by terming it as baseless, fabricated, unfounded and an effort to influence the subjudice cases by distorting facts.
A NAB spokesman said in a statement that the news item titled ‘Controller General Accounts Khurram Humayun committed suicide owing to stress of NAB investigations’ published in ‘Daily The News’ and ‘Jang’ on Wednesday (December 30, 2020) has no link with facts.
He said the Bureau has issued denial to Jang group but they had changed the wordings of NAB’s version with the intention to instill negative image of NAB in peoples’ minds.
