Credit: Park Lane Stables A charity riding school which crowdfunded more than £1million to buy its stables when it was threatened with eviction said it will be forced to leave its home next week after the owner increased the asking price for the site. Earlier this year Park Lane Stables in Teddington started a fundraising campaign when the landlord told them he was selling up and the charity would not be able to stay after the lease ran out on May 31. The charity helps disabled children and the disadvantaged learn to ride with a pay what you can system and councils from across the capital refer young people and adults there for respite.
Cirencester s Barn Theatre is the latest performing arts venue to open its doors but with a little help from impressionist Rory Bremner. The theatre hosted a preview evening of its first production since Christmas of Cat Goscovitch’s new play – A Russian Doll. The night was attended by comedian Rory Bremner, who has performed at the theatre, as well as patrons and supporters of the theatre. The Barn have teamed up with London s Arcola Theatre for the play, which is based on a true story, which follows twenty-something Masha as she becomes embroiled in the world of data and deceit as a member of Russia’s disinformation campaigns during the EU referendum.
CARLISLE College has been nominated for an award in this year’s FE Week & AELP Apprenticeship Awards 2021. The college has been shortlisted for the ‘Promoting Apprenticeships Campaign of the Year’ category in light of the success of its 100 in 100 campaign last year. Th scheme set to minimise the impact of Covid-19 on students by helping to develop Apprenticeship placements, securing 100 Apprenticeship Opportunities in 100 Days, between July 1 and October 9 2020. Carlisle College was selected out of 350 entries that applied to the categories, in a virtual event that was hosted by the comedian Rory Bremner earlier this month. 112 employer’s handed out 117 apprenticeships over the course of the scheme, which exceeded the college’s aim of 100 days.
