PHILADELPHIA After a decade on the Eagles coaching staff, which came a couple years after a seven-year career here as a player, Duce Staley is on the move. The Eagles assistant head coach/running backs coach is headed to Detroit to take on the same role on the Lions staff.
Staley, 45, reportedly interviewed for the head coaching job that ultimately went to Nick Sirianni, even though current and former players advocated for him publicly. Staley, too, had reportedly been passed over for other promotions in the past, and with Sirianni coming in, it appeared Staley’s time in Philadelphia had more or less run out.

NetFlix may want to consider developing a series called the 30-somethings.
It would be about this group of newcomers, Sirianni, 39, defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, 37, and offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, 35.
This may be the youngest triumvirate of coaches holding key NFL positions in league history, though I have done no research to validate that point. Just saying…it’s young.

The Eagles filled one of the top remaining coaching positions on Monday by hiring offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, who joins defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon as lieutenants on head coach Nick Sirianni’s staff.
With a housecleaning, owner Jeffrey Lurie is trying to scrub the disappointment of a 4-11-1 season by jettisoning head coach Doug Pederson, who won the Eagles’ only Super Bowl, and his staff. The new coaches will tell Lurie whether high-priced quarterback Carson Wentz, who regressed for two seasons before being benched, can be fixed or must be shipped out of town for players or draft picks that can help build a new future.
