AFA net - Seeing Through Hell into Heaven

Seeing Through Hell into Heaven Thursday, April 15, 2021 @ 12:51 PM The Problem of Pain. Someone has it in for you at work. They have aligned with a clique that has made it clear you don’t fit and they all wish you were gone. They have the boss’s ear. You are being treated like a sub-human, lied to and about, and mocked (sometimes not so privately). It’s a living hell and you don’t know how you can keep coming back to your job day after day and week after week. You’re being punished for being you. You re alone.

AFA net - Extinguished: Churchgoers with No Light

Extinguished: Churchgoers with No Light Thursday, April 8, 2021 @ 1:53 PM I saw a Facebook post that pictured a three-dimensional billboard showing a crucified Jesus with the words “Live for me” and “I died for you.” There were more than 1,700 comments. One, in particular, caught my eye as I was scrolling through: “Religion is very personal, and I feel that no religion should be pushed on others who are not of that faith. It annoys the daylights out of me when Jehovah s Witnesses come knocking at my door!!! There are so many different religions in the world. How do we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Christianity is the one, true, right religion? All other religions believe that they also are the right religion. Yes, I believe for me, Christianity is the right religion. But I cannot push that on others. I do believe that there is a higher power that created all of our world. For me, the most important thing is to have a belief, to be sincere in it, and not to push

Resurrection and Abraham s City of God Thursday, April 1, 2021 @ 1:01 PM As one of the key players and central figures in the Bible, Abraham, the father of faith (Rom. 4:16), had a very precise goal in life. The author of Hebrews puts it this way: “he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God” (Heb. 11:10). He was so firm in his belief in that city that he refused to build a permanent home choosing instead to live in tents (Heb. 11:9). Authentic faith fixates on what God is preparing for us in the future.  Sadly, most Christians don’t really spend much time or effort thinking about the afterlife. Consequently, a cogent theology about what’s beyond death is noticeably absent from their day-to-day lives. Unlike Abraham, they’re not looking for something as discernable and recognizable as a city. Rather, they seem to think only in terms of happiness or bliss, neither of which has any kind of concrete definition. How can you loo

AFA net - Talked Into but Not Out of…Sin

Talked Into but Not Out of…Sin Wednesday, March 3, 2021 @ 12:18 PM Did you notice in Genesis 3 how easily Eve was talked into sin by the serpent and then in Genesis 4 how her son Cain could not be talked out of sin by God Himself? That’s more than interesting. It’s formative. Genesis is not simply the story of how things began; it is also intended to explain why we are where we are today. A very simple and basic truth about people and sin is revealed in the story of Eve and her son Cain. And we are still proving that it is true millennia later.
