This approach of building a flexible roster that can play varied defensive alignments feels a bit like Moneyball. Is it kinda like the Oakland Athletics when they started that? They didn t go out and sign three guys who could crank out 60-plus home runs. They signed a guy who was good at getting on base, a guy with a high rate of contact to bat behind the guy who gets on base, etc. This feels like that and I m excited to see it play out on the field. I think inflexibility with the roster, or the inability to adapt and change because of roster personnel, has killed many a playoff run. If the opposing team is killing you with one thing, you aren t stuck. You can adapt and change the personnel and alignment. Seems like a great approach.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed fourth-year defensive tackle, Daniel Ross, the club announced today.
Ross is a bit of a NFL journeyman, having spent time with six teams thus far in his four years, including a brief stint with the Jaguars. During the 2020 season, Ross played in five games; three of those were with Jacksonville, two with the Las Vegas Raiders. Ross originally joined the league before the 2017 season when the Houston Texans signed him as an undrafted free agent.
During the 2017 season, Ross floated from the Texans to the Detroit Lions and to the Kansas City Chiefs on practice squads, before finally being signed in early November by the Dallas Cowboys. He was activated and played in three games in 2017 and 13 games in 2018, both with the Cowboys, and tallied 19 tackles, including 2.0 sacks.

I have to be honest, it s getting pretty hard to be original with these mock drafts, especially in the top 10. That said, I ve made a new pick for your Tampa Bay Buccaneers that didn t show up in any of our previous six efforts.
It s been said ad nauseum that there are no truly new ideas, but it still seems like you should be able to find new variety in the minutiae. And mock drafts are definitely minutiae. After all, even if everyone agreed on the same 32 players to be drafted in the first round, there are still 2.6313084e+35 ways they could be ordered.

The complete restoration of Bears defensive line depth is in order after nose tackle John Jenkins found a new home.
Jenkins signed a one-year deal Thursday with the Miami Dolphins, another former team of his.
Following an opt-out by nose tackle Eddie Goldman, the Bears brought Jenkins back last year after the 6-foot-3, 327-pound lineman been in Chicago in 2017 and for training camp of 2018. He signed on a one-year deal but after free agency began they did not sign him back for another season.
Bears GM Ryan Pace anticipated Goldman would be returning this year.
The Bears also have built their own depth at the nose tackle position by training 3-4 end starter Bilal Nichols to play there in case Goldman is unavailable.
