“Please forgive me if this is seen as a rant,” reads the email, “but I would like to put out a personal challenge to all patriots. It has become increasingly popular in recent years to call this great American holiday “Fourth of July.” However, we all should take note that it is not. It is in actuality Independence Day. Our celebration of the solidification and ratification of this great United States of America.
“Lest we never forget the countless lives sacrificed over these last few hundred years to ensure this is still a working constitutional republic, I challenge you to correct those around you when they say, Happy Fourth of July, whether gently by saying Happy Independence Day to you also, or giving them a history lesson, if so inclined.

We are told a lady with a van filled with a dozen screaming kids was at Hamilton Place mall, looking for a space. Obviously frazzled, she coasted through a pedestrian crossing and an irate man screamed, “Lady, don’t you know to stop?”

Albert Einstein once said, There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. So, allow me to say I’m a big believer of miracles, having felt their power time and time again. Not long ago I read of a real one – with actual pictures – and was moved by the story, which I shall share.
But, first, I was delightfully surprised to discover it was written by one who walks among us, WTVC news editor and anchor Latricia Thomas, and its origin was on the television’s Facebook page on August 17, 2015. After Latricia had read it as a eulogy at her father’s funeral, it went viral.
