Ahletics place Ramon Laureano (hip) on 10-day IL

Ahletics place Ramon Laureano (hip) on 10-day IL Field Level Media 02 Jun 2021, 11:19 GMT+10 Oakland Athletics center fielder Ramon Laureano was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hip. Laureano has missed four games with the injury and manager Bob Melvin said there is no timetable for his return. The move was retroactive to Friday. Until he can run at a decent clip then this one s just kind of an unknown, Melvin told reporters. Laureano, 26, is batting .257 with 11 home runs, eight doubles, two triples and 22 RBIs in 48 games for Oakland in his fourth Major League Baseball season. Defensively he is also second among all center fielders in putouts (129), just one behind the Baltimore Orioles Cedric Mullins.

Oakland A s place Ramon Laureano on injured list, call up Skye Bolt

Photo by Daniel Shirey/Getty Images The Oakland A’s will be without one of their biggest stars indefinitely, but in the meantime a notable prospect will get a long-awaited chance in the majors. The A’s placed CF Ramon Laureano on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, the team announced. The diagnosis is a strained right hip, retroactive to May 28. Laureano last played on May 27, and then he was scratched from the lineup the next day with what was termed as groin tightness. He hasn’t played since and has now missed four games. Manager Bob Melvin has “no idea on the timetable,” per Matt Kawahara of the S.F. Chronicle, adding, “Until he can run at a decent clip then this one’s just kind of an unknown.”

Quick Look: Oakland A s offense needs to get on base more

Photo by Lachlan Cunningham/Getty Images The Oakland A’s are only scoring 4.12 runs per game so far this season, which is slightly below league-average (4.33) and ranks 18th overall. That’s lower than you’d like from a contending team whose pitching staff is good but not dominant. What are they not doing well enough, and what in particular should we be hoping for them to do better in order to increase their scoring? The primary identity of the A’s lineup is that they hit homers. Furthermore, while they don’t bat for a high average, they do draw some walks to partially make up for it. On the downside, they strike out their fair share, though perhaps not as much as you might think as they have a nearly exactly league-average rate.
