Lehigh County’s district attorney revealed several people were accosted by the armed gunman who fatally shot a man at a Wawa, then later shot himself.
A news release Wednesday from District Attorney James Martin says Za Uk Lian, 45, of South Whitehall Township pointed the gun at a crowd of people, then confronted two people to try to take their vehicles after he allegedly shot and killed 31-year-old Ramon Ramirez.
The release says Lian arrived at the Wawa on Route 100 in Upper Macungie at 4:48 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21. Lian allegedly drove up next to a parked Jeep and shot the driver. There was no interaction between them before the shooting, the release says. The victim’s condition has been upgraded to critical, it says.

ALLENTOWN (AP) Authorities still don’t know why a man opened fire at a convenience store in Pennsylvania last week, killing a truck driver who was pumping gas and wounding another man before taking his own life.
The Lehigh County district attorney’s office on Wednesday released more details about the shooting spree but said the suspect’s electronic devices, including his cellphone, revealed no information about the crime or a motive.
Za Uk Lian first shot at a car on a highway several miles away before heading to the Wawa convenience store in Upper Macungue Township, outside Allentown, around 4:45 a.m. on April 21, authorities said. Lian had approached the woman’s car from behind, pulled into the right-hand lane next to her and fired a shot that hit the passenger-side door before speeding way, authorities said.

We ve learned a bit more about the April 21st incident that left a man dead at the Wawa in Upper Macungie Township and his killer dead from a suicide. The Lehigh County DA s office says Za Uk Lian of South Whitehall Township shot at a woman s car on Route 22 as both drivers were going at a speed of about 70 miles per hour. Lian then drove to the Wawa, where he shot and wounded one person and then shot and killed Ramon Ramirez as Ramirez was pumping gas. The DA says Lian also pointed a gun at a group of people at the Wawa and tried to steal two different vehicles but failed when police began arriving. Lian then ran off and killed himself at a nearby daycare center. Lian s motive remains unknown.
Authorities have released a more detailed accounting of the events leading to last week’s deadly shootings at an Upper Macungie Wawa, disclosing that one of the injured victims is in critical condition and that the shooter, Za Uk Lian, had been diagnosed with COVID-19 nine days earlier.
