Weathering an early storm, the Robinhood Stars remained unbeaten after piling on the pressure to complete a comfortable 59-45 win over the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel in Auckland on Sunday.
The arm-wrestle on show during the opening stanza gave an early glimpse of what looked as if a tight a close tussle could be on the cards. However, the home side ground their way into a position of dominance as the previously high-flying Steel were given a reality check against the slick Stars.
Led by their defensive end in this match, the Stars reputation as the team to beat continued to gain momentum as they maintained a perfect four-from-four record despite not having the greatest shooting percentages against the Steel.

Pushed hard, the
Robinhood Stars retained their unbeaten start to the season
after completing a hard-fought 55-51 win over Splice
Construction Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in Tauranga on
Sunday.
After being in control for three-quarters of
the match, the Stars faced a testing final 15 minutes before
making it three-from-three in the face of a resurgent Magic
who threatened to spoil the visitors perfect
record.
As the tension levels rose, composure also
boiled over with numerous cautions and warnings being dished
out as both sides put everything into claiming the points.
Let down by a slow start, the Magic came home with plenty of

Celebrating Gina Crampton’s 100 national league
match, the Robinhood Stars continued their impressive start
to the season with a comprehensive 57-43 win over The Good
Oil Tactix in Auckland on Sunday.
It completed
back-to-back wins for the Stars after the opening two rounds
of the ANZ Premiership while consigning the Tactix to a
second straight loss.
The Stars ground out a tight
first half in the Anzac Day outing before bursting away in
the second half, the Tactix unable to stay with the pace as
the home side romped home in style with a strong second 30
minutes.
