Update: Fire In Calaveras County

Updated Valley Springs vegetation fire Update at 4:52 p.m.:  Fire resources are getting a handle on a vegetation fire in the Valley Springs area of Calaveras County named the “Mockingbird Fire.” The flames broke out around 4:15 p.m. in some grass in the 1000 block of Mockingbird Hill near Robin Road, off Vista Del Lago Drive, between Highway 26 and New Hogan Lake. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore details that the forward spread has been stopped at two acres. She added that while there were homes nearby none were threatened. Crews will remain on scene working to gain full containment and then mop up for the next couple of hours. What ignited the fire remains under investigation.

1890 Days Is Back In Ringgold May 28-29 Friday, May 21, 2021 1890 Days Committee and City of Ringgold announce the return of Ringgold’s largest festival- the 1890 Days Jamboree. The festival will take place Friday, May 28 from 6-10 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Just a few minutes south of Chattanooga on I-75, this two-day event takes place in historic downtown Ringgold.  Visitors this year will enjoy food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, live music on multiple stages, a parade, classic car show, vintage baseball game, fireworks and much more.   The Ringgold Playhouse will be hosting a Comedy Club during this year’s event at The Ringgold Depot on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. You can take a break from the heat, grab some popcorn and enjoy a few laughs from this improv and stand-up comedy show. 

Truck strikes utility pole, knocks out power in East Hempfield Township

A truck struck a utility pole in East Hempfield Township on Monday afternoon, knocking power out in the area, according to a supervisor with Lancaster County-Wide Communications. The truck, which belongs to a landscaping company, struck a pole at Marietta Avenue and Robin Road at around 4:36 p.m., the supervisor said. No one was injured in the crash, though power was lost in the area, the supervisor said. Marietta Avenue was closed between Estelle Drive and Centerville Road. Utility pole hit by a landscaping truck causes power outage in neighborhoods along Marietta Avenue east of Centerville Road in East Hempfield Township.
