The first leg of the Rocky Mountain Cup features a change from the usual status quo.
Colorado travels to Sandy, Utah to face Real Salt Lake on Saturday looking like the stronger club in the rivalry. The Rapids have not lost in July and are unbeaten over their last four matches. They have allowed just two goals in that stretch while registering a pair of shutouts.
Of course, that success comes with a caveat. Colorado (7-3-3, 24 points) has not played a road match in a month and has just two wins in five road matches this season. Still, the Rapids have the defensive chops to start getting road results. Colorado is allowing only 1.0 goals per game second only to Seattle in the Western Conference.

The Colorado Rapids aim to continue their home success against San Jose when the Earthquakes visit Commerce Park, Colo., on Saturday night.
Colorado has won five straight home matches against San Jose and is unbeaten in the last nine such meetings. The Earthquakes last won in Colorado in June 2013.
The Rapids (6-3-2, 20 points) aren t just good at home against San Jose; they typically thrive in the high altitude against teams that need an in-game adjustment to playing at more than 5,000 feet.
In fact, Colorado has scored at least one goal in 30 consecutive home matches, the longest active streak in the league. Only six teams in MLS history have put together a longer streak.
Doom Discussion July 2021: A Lack of Vision By Talgrath on Jul 5, 2021, 4:18pm PDT +
A Lack of Vision
There have been two major firings in the last week of MLS action as of this writing, the first came on Tuesday, June 29th as Jesse Fioranelli (pictured above hiding his second set of nipples) was shown the door after years of failure at San Jose. The second firing came today as I m writing this, July 2nd, after Chris Armas (pictured below playing his invisible keyboard for his Genesis cover band) saw his Toronto team thumped 7-1 by the not so great DC United. In theory these are two very different firings, Fioranelli saw the door after years of failure including bad signings, bizarre coaching changes and just generally not seeming to get how to do things in MLS. Chris Armas, just started the job and only had 11 games in charge of Toronto before getting booted out the door. These teams are very different in terms of budget too, San Jose spends very little, while T
