Whites fans welcome home team bus as players party into the small hours JUBILANT Whites fans gathered at the Bolton Whites hotel at the UniBol stadium to welcome home the team bus. Fans gathered at the ground last night in anticipation of Wanderers players arriving at the hotel back from their 4-1 win away to Crawley. Earlier in the day players had celebrated with a handful of fans outside the Crawley ground after securing promotion back to League One. The team coach was unable to park up outside the hotel at the first time of asking because of the volume of fans.
WINCHESTER â A century ago, Winchester saw the end of the deadliest influenza epidemic the world had ever seen. Though the year began with a resurgence of cases, it peaked in February and ended by mid-April, leaving townspeople with a relief todayâs residents are looking forward to as the current year ends.
In 1920, Winchester watched as a new contingent of war veterans joined the Memorial Day parade (WWI veterans having not taken part in 1919 when Civil War veterans placed flowers on the graves of the newly fallen). Town Meeting voted to erect a permanent veteransâ memorial on Manchester Field, a plan never carried through.
