There is no better destination than the Brainerd lakes area to enjoy the great outdoors with all the comforts of home, to be closer to all that nature can provide sparkling water bodies and 2,000 miles of shoreland amid tall pines, with hundreds of miles of bicycle, walking, jogging and snowmobile trails. There are deep mine pit lakes for a quiet kayak ride or scuba dive, lakes and rivers for fishing and recreation.
Load up the bike (or rent one) to try the
Cuyuna Range mountain bike trails, then take a break in an area coffee shop or eatery. The area has 45 resorts and more than 400 holes of golf, plus a zip line. Or camp and see the glorious Milky Way, away from city lights.

“We always called it The Big House,” said Gayle Oreto, the homeowner’s sister. “And we all loved spending time there. I have four children who are married and have children and we’ve all made it a tradition to gather in Sarasota at The Big House for Thanksgiving, Christmas and brief vacations during the year. My husband and I lived there for eight months while our home in Bradenton was under construction and that’s the longest that anyone has stayed in that home. We’ve had weddings and rehearsal dinners there, baby showers, anniversary and birthday parties, reunions of 25 people or more. We’ve made so many memories at that house. One we treasure is my daughter’s wedding rehearsal dinner. I made rice and made far too much. We ended up eating it for days, right through the wedding vacation. My daughter’s special occasion has gone done in family history as The Rice Wedding.”
Staff Report
The strong sales and member momentum that began in 2020 has continued through the first quarter of 2021 at The Founders Club as evidenced by a record-breaking increase in new club memberships, the number of homesite sales and new model homes under construction by some of Sarasota’s finest luxury homebuilders.
Thirteen lot sales since January have amounted to nearly $2.75 million.
Builder London Bay, which also handles sales and marketing for the community, kicked off the year with the sale of its Davidson model. A second model, the Cameron, also recently sold.
The homes boast expansive views of the golf course and tranquil nature preserve, as do nearly every home in The Founders Club.
