Berry Campbell Gallery is pleased to announce a survey exhibition of collage works by Queens based, African American artist, Frank Wimberley (b. 1926). Since the 1960s, Wimberley has been known for creating dynamic, multi-layered, abstract paintings described in 2001 by New York Times art critic, Grace Glueck, as “. . . good to behold: beautifully brushed and infused with a light that magnifies their intensity. . ..” This special exhibition will feature both paintings with collage elements as well as traditional collage works on paper and will highlight some of Frank Wimberley’s most important collages to date, including several examples going back to the early 1970s.

Mother is given indefinite hospital order after she suffocated autistic son

A judge today called a disabled boy who was suffocated with a sponge by his mother during the first coronavirus lockdown an indirect victim of the pandemic as she was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order.  Russian national Olga Freeman, 40, killed her autistic 10-year-old son Dylan and laid his body down next to his toys in the master bedroom of her £544,000 flat in Acton, West London, in August of last year. The boy s father, celebrity photographer Dean Freeman, was in Spain at the time of his son s killing. The couple, married in 2011, had been divorced a number of years , according to Mr Freeman s agent.
