One fateful morning, around two-and-a-half decades ago, Saurabh Shukla walked into my room with train tickets in his hands. We both were studying at the National School of Drama. ‘Do you know that Frontier Express will leave for Mumbai at 2:20pm today?’ he told me. ‘It does so every day. What’s special about today?’ I replied. ‘You are boarding it with me,’ he said,” reminisces Rajesh Jais, the now famous TV and film actor.

Advising people to not venture out of their homes unless absolutely necessary, doctors have stated that decreasing temperatures have increased the risk of people falling prey to coronavirus as well other respiratory problems. For a COVID patient, it means a rise in complications even a slight exposure to air pollutants can turn fatal for them, they say. The software engineer went from being a brand aggregator to owning a premium luxury shoe brand for men, with a curious experiment to understand how luxury brands behave in the new digital world.
The canvas brings out his innermost thoughts in myriad colours. But before the physical act of creating, the artwork takes shape in his mind during his early morning meditations. That’s not entirely unexpected though as the artist is a spiritualist who ventured into ‘knowing the unknown’ while still in his teens. At 56, both his art and spiritualism have matured.
Meet Neeraj Goswami, artist and resident of IP Extension in East Delhi. His solo show, Meditative Moorings, by Sanchit Art is currently on at DLF South Court Mall, Saket (till December 31). “For me, painting and meditation are the same thing. I depict the bliss I achieve while meditating on canvas so that viewers can experience these positive vibrations as well.” Goswami lost his father when he was in class 10, after which the family faced a lot of hardship and strife.

When over 2,800 film entries from 108 countries based on a single theme Cure, Safety Measures and Life during the COVID-19 are received for a film festival, it is a record of sorts. That is why Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Environment, Forest & Climate Change Prakash Javadekar made a note of this and suggested that the organiser, Indian Infotainment Media Corporation (IIMC), send this feat to the Limca Book of Records.
Speaking at the inauguration of the first virtual International Corona Virus Short Film Festival at the NDMC Convention Centre in New Delhi, the Minister said, “The lockdown period witnessed a revolution in communication with people exploring their creative side while sitting at home. Short films were made dime a dozen.” Javadekar added that defeating hurdles and rising over problems is what human spirit is all about. “We, at no point, should feel disheartened,” he remarked, sharing that the international film fest
