Confusion and dilemma in Nepali Congress continues, now with eyes on leading government in provinces Kathmandu Post
Kathmandu, Jan. 23 Nepali Congress is not in government in even one of the seven provinces. Such was the hammering the party got in the 2017 elections. But now with the Nepal Communist Party vertically split, it has a chance to join a provincial government and even lead.
The opportunity, however, has brought further confusion within the Nepali Congress and put it in a dilemma.
The party is already divided in its response to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives and hold snap polls on April 30 and May 10 with one section believing that it must oppose the dissolution and another section maintaining that it should wait for the Supreme Court s decision on the constitutionality of the dissolution.

Bhaktapur [Nepal], December 14 (ANI): Dressed in a red saree, Newari girls below 10 years get ready to marry with wood apple, a tradition that has continued for centuries.
Known as Ihi or Bel Bibaha (Marriage with a wood apple) is the first of its kind where the girls from the Newar Community take part before entering the adolescent age. Before mensuration, especially between the ages of 5 to 9 years, they are married to Bel (Wood Apple) which is considered as the statue of Subarna Kumar, parents perform the kanyadan, Krishna Raj Joshi, one of the priests conducting the ritual told ANI.

Kathmandu [Nepal], December 14 (ANI): Nepal on Monday was rocked by anti-government protests organised by the opposition Nepali Congress, which condemned the ruling government s apathy towards democratic values. At the hour of the pandemic, this government could not deliver anything to its public. Vaccines for coronavirus should be distributed free of cost, but they (government) are now planning to give it to private firms and it is a major issue that should be challenged. The government has fallen off the track and is sweeping the systems along with it. In order to bring it back to the track, we have hit the streets and are confident that we would rectify this course of action, Surendra Manandhar, one of the demonstrators, told ANI.
