Softbank Vision Fundis eyeing a return to Flipkart, having held talks with the company on a possible $600-700 million investment.
The funding is part of a larger $2 billion round, which could involve sovereign wealth funds such as Abu Dhabi’s ADQ and Canada’s CPPIB, and existing investors such as GIC and Qatar Investment Authority.

Bengaluru | Mumbai:SoftBank Vision Fund has deployed $2 billion in India over the first five months of the year, and will continue to back technology businesses which are seeing improved unit economics buoyed by the growing digital adoption on the back of the Covid-19 pandemic, Rajeev Misra, the chief executive of the Japanese fund, told ET in an interview.
India remains an important target market for investments from the Vision Fund, especially in the context of widespread technology-driven disruptions expected across the economy in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic, SoftBank Vision Fund CEO Rajeev Misra said
“It seems odd and rather improper for the Centre to first approve Bandyopadhyay’s extension and then recall him within days,” former cabinet secretary B.K. Chaturvedi said.
