Woman allegedly raped on pretext of marriage in Gurugram

Gurugram, Feb 6 : A 30-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man on the pretext of marriage over a period of two years, the police said on Saturday.
The victim, a native of Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh, residing at Gurugram’s Rajiv Nagar area, said in her complaint that the accused, Inderjeet, raped her for close to two years on the pretext of marriage and later refused to marry her while threatening her of dire consequences if she told anyone about it. According to the victim, she came in contact with the accused in March 2019.

Sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided residential property and offices pertaining to two government officials in Hubballi and Dharwad on Tuesday and found ₹59 lakh in cash and assets worth crores of rupees in the house of one.

On January 19, people from DNT (De-Notified Tribes) and NT (Nomadic Tribes) communities living in Bhopal and neighbouring districts gathered in the city’s Rajiv Nagar basti, celebrating Ekjutta Divas (the day of solidarity). Members of Pardhi, Kanjar, Bediya, Sapera, Dafale, Nat and Banjara communities gathered on the death anniversary of Tinti Bai, a 16-year-old Pardhi girl who died by suicide after torture and abuse at the hands of the police in 2008. The event was organised by members of Majal, a youth collective of Pardhis engaged with creating awareness in and about DNT communities.

GHAZIABAD: Farmers’ outfits protesting at the UP-Delhi borders, including several factions of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) pressed for a route change to their Republic Day tractor parade all of Monday and met several police and senior local administration officials to be allowed to go up to Akshardham.
The demand took officials by surprise because the parade routes from the Chilla and Ghazipur borders, which the outfits sought a change to, were finalised on Sunday after talks with Delhi Police. However, through Monday, representatives of the unions insisted on taking the tractors towards Akshardham from Ghazipur and Chilla. The approved route from Ghazipur is towards the Apsara border and Hapur Road.

Patna, Jan 15 : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday inaugurated the six-laned road between R-block and Digha, built at a cost of Rs 379.75 crore.
The 6.7-km stretch of road, boasting of state-of-the-art facilities, aims to ease massive traffic jams, providing much relief to commuters from north and south Bihar travelling to state capital Patna.
The six-laned road has electronic signages and solar-powered automatic street lights, offering signal-free drive.
Commuters of Digha, Rajiv Nagar, Indrapuri, Patliputra, Mahesh Nagar, Punaichak, Sri Krishnapuri and R-block can now move from one end to the other end of the road stretch in only seven minutes as against 40-45 minutes taken earlier. Vehicles carrying excess load can also ply on th
