DawnNewsTV/File LAHORE: The Jahangir Khan Tareen group has gained strength and its aggressive narrative to seek ‘justice’ for the estranged Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader has brought the party’s federal as well as Punjab governments to their knees as both have invited the group for negotiations. The Tareen group, which has swelled to over three dozen members from both the National and Punjab assemblies, posed a clear threat to the PTI governments in the province as well as at the Centre after it announced parliamentary leaders for both houses. The group had also threatened to boycott the budget sessions jeopardising the overall legitimacy of both the PTI governments.

According to the report, Raja Riaz will be the parliamentary leader of the group in the National Assembly, while Saeed Akbar Nawani will be the parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly. Noman Langarial, one of the supporters of Tareen, who attended the dinner, said that 31 lawmakers attended the event. Member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA) Salman Naeem said during the dinner that supporters of Tareen decided to formally launch their own group, The Express Tribune reported.

Speaking in the Geo News programme Capital Talk, Riaz said the JTHG had its parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly, and warned that a parliamentary leader could also be made in the National Assembly if excesses were committed at the federal level. He said they had their group in the National Assembly also, but not a parliamentary leader as the assurances given by Prime Minister Imran Khan were being realised at the federal level. Top Story May 20, 2021 LAHORE: Banking and sessions’ court Wednesday extended interim bail of Jahangir Khan Tareen and his son Ali Khan Tareen till May 31 in cases of alleged corporate fraud, fake accounts and money-laundering, filed by the FIA against the Tareens.
