CALGARY – An Alberta cabinet minister says her daughter has been the victim of hate-fuelled violence.
Rajan Sawhney, minister of community and social services, says her 25-year-old daughter was attacked Friday in downtown Calgary near her office in broad daylight.
In a post on Twitter, she says her daughter was grabbed, pushed, sworn at and chased as bystanders looked on.
She says her daughter wasn’t physically hurt but is shaken, and so is she.
Sawhney noted that it happened at a time when there have been frequent attacks on racialized women over the past year.
