ROCKLAND COUNTY, New York (WABC) Rockland County received a new shipment of COVID-19 vaccine doses Tuesday, one day after saying they had run out of shots and did not know when more would arrive.
Still, the story highlights fears of a shortage as municipalities ramp up efforts to vaccinate their eligible citizens.
The Rockland County Department of Health said it had administered all of the 1,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine that it received from the state last week and had requested more, with Rockland County Executive Ed Day s office saying there had been no word as how many would arrive next or when.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY As the federal government slowly distributes doses of coronavirus vaccine to the 50 states, the New York Health Department has given Rockland County s Department of Health a limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccine to treat people in New York s Phase 1A priority group.
That includes, according to state health officials:
Outpatient/ambulatory front-line, high-risk health care workers of any age who provide direct in-person patient care, or other staff in a position in which they have direct contact with patients (i.e., intake staff)

Hundreds of sites are now set up across the state to help more New Yorkers get a COVID-19 vaccine when they re eligible.
One of those sites is Rockland County s Department of Health.
Nurse practitioner Julie Krauchuk was the first person to get a COVID-19 vaccine at the Health Department office. We re all so thrilled to be at this point. That we have something that s going to prevent what s been causing so much distress not only here in Rockland County and New York state but the world, she says.

New York U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has announced her first bill for the new session of Congress, and it aims to speed up the country’s lagging vaccine distribution. Meantime, Rockland County received its first shipment of a COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday morning and began administering it to county healthcare workers Tuesday afternoon.
Senator Gillibrand says she is reintroducing her Health Force, Resilience Force, and Jobs to Fight COVID-19 Act.
“This bill would invest billions of dollars into local public health infrastructure and recruit, train and employ hundreds of thousands of Americans to support vaccine communication, distribution and administration efforts in their own communities, with a particular focus on underserved communities,” Gillibrand says.
