Israeli Troops Mass at Gaza Border Amid Rocket Fire, Air Strikes, and Clashes in Israel
GAZA/JERUSALEM Israeli troops massed at Gaza’s border on Thursday and Palestinian militants pounded Israel with rockets in intense hostilities that have caused international concern and touched off clashes between Jews and Arabs in Israel.
Days of violence between Jewish Israelis and the country’s Arab minority worsened overnight, with synagogues attacked and fighting breaking out on the streets of some communities.
With concern growing that the violence that flared on Monday could spiral out of control, the United States is sending an envoy, Hady Amr, to the region. But efforts to end the worst hostilities in years appear so far to have made no progress.

Thousands of Kiwis have already invested in the special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) that is likely to be merged into Rocket Lab despite it not being a done deal yet. Leighton Roberts, co-founder and co-CEO of Sharesies said 3000 of its users had already invested in the Nasdaq-listed Cayman Islands-incorporated Vector Acquisition and it is in the top 100 most popular investments on its platform out of a possible 5000 options.
At least two dozen bodies in a decomposed condition were found floating in the Ganga in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh on May 11, the police said. Given the large number of bodies, the police are probing if they are of COVID-19 victims but have so far not been able to either identify the deceased or trace the source.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not attend the G7 summit in the United Kingdom next month, the Ministry of External Affairs announced. “While appreciating the invitation to the Prime Minister by U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson to attend the G7 Summit as a Special Invitee, given the prevailing COVID situation, it has been decided that the Prime Minister will not attend the summit in person,” said spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.
