Rockford Park District is Offering Winter Activities For Kids

The Rockford Park District is offering COVID-friendly Winter activities for kids that you should totally take advantage of. They announced several new programs and activities that will help local kids and families stay active during the coldest months of the year.

Temperatures in the Rockford area reached the mid-50s over the past two days, in what is typically one of the coldest months of the year in northern Illinois.
Thursday s 57-degree temperature matched the record high for Dec. 10 in Rockford, set in 1911 and matched in 2015. Wednesday s high temperature of 55 degrees set a record for Dec. 9, eclipsing the previous record high of 54 degrees in 1939.
Kevin Birk, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said Thursday that residents should not expect the mild December days to last. Temperatures are expected to range from 17 to 41 degrees throughout the weekend.
