Maharashtra to host 20 cultural festivals across 6 regions Share Maharashtra Tourism announced 20 mini festivals across the six regions of the state i.e. Konkan, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Amravati and Nagpur in February and March to boost tourism. The state tourism department has earmarked an amount of Rs 1 crore for organising these 20 festivals. These marquee festivals will provide exciting opportunities for tourists to celebrate cultural heritage tourism of Maharashtra. Some of the landmark festivals that will be held in Nashik district include Grape Harvesting Festival, Nandur Madhyameshwar Festival, Bhandardara Festival in Ahmednagar district and Laling Fort Festival in Dhule district. Pune district will witness the iconic Junnar Grape Festival, Wai Festival in Satara district, and Panhala Festival in Kolhapur district.

Nagpur: In a big relief for students, Maharashtra education minister Uday Samant on Friday stressed that the university examinations should be held online till the Covid-19 pandemic is over. After 99% results in Nagpur University online exams conducted through mobile app, students were demanding the same mode for solving the papers. Quoting Nagpur University vice-chancellor Subhash Chaudhari and other Management Council members, Samant announced that NU would be conducting forthcoming winter exams in online mode only. Earlier, it was decided to conduct the papers in both online and offline mode, as reported by TOI on Thursday. Interacting with the media on sidelines of his janata darbar, the minister further declared that his ministry would be making efforts to fill up teaching and non-teaching posts in all state universities after considering its financial implications and consulting chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

Nagpur: Taking advantage of the fact that gram panchayat elections are not contested on party symbols, all the four major political parties of the state – Congress, NCP, BJP and Shiv Sena – claimed to have won maximum number of panchayats in Vidarbha. Over 3,800 panchayats had gone to the polls on January 15. In Nagpur district, both Congress and BJP claimed to have won in maximum number of panchayats. District Congress president Rajendra Mulak claimed that his party had won 83 panchayats out of 129 while BJP had won in only 25. According to Mulak, NCP had won in only 14 villages while Shiv Sena’s figure was 5. Other parties and independents had won in two panchayats.
