After as many as 43 Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders were sworn in as ministers in Mamata Banerjee s Cabinet on Monday here at Raj Bhavan, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar issued a list of portfolios allotted to them.

Image Source: IANS News Kolkata, May 10 : Amid a raging Covid-19 pandemic, 43 Trinamool Congress ministers comprising 24 cabinet ministers, 10 Ministers of State with Independent charge and nine MoS took oath at an austere ceremony held in the Raj Bhawan on Monday. While three ministers Amit Mitra, Bratya Basu and Rathin Ghosh took their oath virtually. The rest 40 ministers were divided into three groups Cabinet, MOS (Independent Charge) and MoS and they took their oath together to cut short the program.

Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar administered the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers. Three TMC leaders Amit Mitra, Bratya Basu, and Rathin Ghosh were sworn in virtually. Mitra is unwell and both Basu and Ghosh are recuperating from Covid-19. Those who were sworn in include 24 cabinet ministers and 10 ministers of state (independent charge). Eight women were sworn in, and with the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the total number of women has increased to nine. The portfolios were decided at the first cabinet meeting of the government at the state secretariat. The chief minister retained the portfolios of Home and Hill Affairs, Personnel and Administration, Health and Family Welfare, Land and Land Reforms and Refugee and Rehabilitation, and the Information and cultural affairs and North Bengal Development.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday retained the crucial departments of Home and Health in the allocation of portfolios to the State’s Council of Ministers. Along with these the two crucial portfolios, Ms Banerjee will also be in charge of Land and Land Reforms, Information and Cultural Affairs and North Bengal Development departments.
