SSG Hospital sets up ward, task force for mucormycosis | Vadodara News

SSG ward number 19 of ENT department will be used for management of mucormycosis VADODARA: The state-run SSG Hospital on Monday set up a separate ward for mucormycosis – the fungal infection that is turning a killer for many recovered Covid-19 patients. SSG Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Ranjan Aiyer has also set up a task force for management of mucormycosis cases at the central Gujarat’s biggest government hospital. After a meeting, it was decided that ward number 19 of ENT department will be used for management of mucormycosis at the government hospital. The in-charge nursing superintendent will be responsible for ward and nursing staff at operation theatre.

754 more cases in Vadodara, eight dead | Vadodara News

Vadodara: With 754 more Covid-19 cases being reported in the city and district, the total number of cases reached 40,826. Eight more persons were declared dead due to the viral infection taking the total number of deaths to 341. As many as 7,136 tests were conducted in the city and district out of which the fresh Covid cases were detected. The cases included 387 from the areas of Vadodara district outside Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits and the remaining from the city. The city received 92 cases each in the east, west and north zones. The south zone of the city accounted for 91 new cases. On Monday, 575 persons were discharged from different hospitals and home quarantine. So far, 33,896 persons have recovered from Covid-19. This left, 6,589 active cases in the city and district.

Candidates who won uncontested on Wednesday Vadodara:Syndicate elections at M S University will be held only for one category that of teachers on February 25. On Wednesday, as many as ten seats were declared won uncontested as the otherwise warring saffron camps reached a final compromise just hours before the deadline to file nominations on the last day of filing nominations. The university’s syndicate body comprises of 15 elected representatives. Of these, the one seat representing head of departments (HoDs) was already declared won uncontested as Satyajit Chaudhary was the sole candidate to file nomination in this category. The poll battle for the remaining 14 seats was scheduled on February 25 with Wednesday being the last day of submitting nominations.

28 women cops complain of 'minor' side-effects | Surat News

The female trainee cops at New Civil Hospital in Surat SURAT: Twelve trainee female police constables in Surat and 16 female cops from the Vadodara city police headquarters complained of side-effects late on Sunday night after they had been administered the first dose of vaccine in the early hours of the day in the second phase of Covid-19 vaccination programme. While the Surat cops, living in accommodation provided by the police department at police headquarters, complained of fever and other health issues at night and were admitted in New Civil Hospital (NCH), the Vadodara cops along with two safari workers of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) too had to be taken to hospitals on Monday with similar complaints of headache, giddiness, dizziness, mild fever.

VADODARA/HYDERABAD: A 30-year-old Gujarat sanitation worker with a suspected cardiac condition died within hours of getting a Covid-19 vaccine shot on Sunday while a 55-year-old health worker in Telangana who had taken ill on the 10th day since her vaccination succumbed to what health officials termed “underlying co-morbidities”. In both cases, which took the number of people dying in India post-vaccination to 12, family members blamed alleged side-effects of the Covishield vaccine for the deaths. In Vadodara, municipal corporation employee Jignesh Solanki’s health deteriorated rapidly after he was forced to take the vaccine at his workplace, his brother Ganesh alleged. He was taken to SSG Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. “He became unconscious three to four hours after the vaccine was administered. Had there been any reaction due to the vaccine, it would have happened within the first 30 minutes,” Dr Ranjan Aiyer, superintendent of SSG Hospital, said
