Sen. Ted Cruz said he did not flee storm-struck Houston for sun and sand in Mexico he just took a plane to Cancun and back to be a good dad and accompany his daughters as they escaped a once-in-a-generation storm.
Photos posted on social media late Wednesday night show a man who looks like the Texas Republican and his family in the airport and on an airplane, alleging that he was on the way to a vacation in Cancun while Texas battled blackouts and extreme winter weather.
After more than 12 hours of not addressing the photos, Cruz released a statement: This has been an infuriating week for Texans. The greatest state in the greatest country in the world has been without power. We have food lines, gas lines, and people sleeping at the neighbors’ houses. Our homes are freezing and our lights are out. Like millions of Texans, our family lost heat and power too.

Beto O Rourke, former member of the U.S. House of Representatives
Beto made headlines in 2018 when he competed against Ted Cruz for his U.S. Senate seat. Unfortunately Beto was narrowly defeated by a margin of 3% points, but he did set a record number of votes for most votes ever cast for a Democrat in Texas history.
Governor Greg Abbott is already feeling the heat, and made the statement that Beto would not sell well at a news conference in Odessa. Governor Abbott and Beto have stark differences in their political positions that place them on opposite sides of the spectrum.
