A pilot program with the goal of keeping some patients calling 9-1-1 from needing to go to hospital won’t be active in Cornwall-SDG just quite yet.
The province is launching a new 9-1-1 models of care in 33 municipalities across the province, which would allow paramedics to treat certain palliative, mental health, and addiction-related medical emergencies, then transport the patient directly to that alternate site instead of the hospital.

But, while everyone knows that skilled paramedics are able to move quickly, it’ll take a bit of time before Cornwall SDG Paramedics are included in the program.
