EPS members make arrest for assault with a weapon

A male fled the residence, but was soon found and arrested. The 30-year-old Estevan man was transported to the police station where he was lodged in cells pending a court appearance the following morning. He is charged with assault with a weapon, assault, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and breaching the conditions of a release order. In other recent EPS news, a traffic stop was made in central Estevan on Thursday that resulted in a 24-year-old Estevan man being arrested for an outstanding warrant and other charges related to breaching the conditions of his conditional sentence order. He was also charged with driving while prohibited, displaying an unauthorized licence plate and operating an unregistered vehicle. He was remanded into custody and will be held until his next court appearance.

Police make arrest for committing an indecent act, resisting arrest

A 52-year-old Estevan man was located and arrested for committing an indecent act in a public place. He is facing charges for this as well as resisting arrest.  He was taken before a justice of the peace and released on conditions as he awaits his first court appearance. Also on Friday, police were called to a local gym to a report of a man refusing to wear a mask. When members attended and attempted to reason with him, he continued to refuse to wear a mask properly. He was subsequently issued a $2,800 ticket for violating the current public health orders.

EPS members arrest the same person twice on one day

A short time after his release he was arrested again at a north end business for causing a disturbance. He was lodged in cells and charged with causing a disturbance under the Criminal Code, and was subsequently released on conditions in front of a Justice of the Peace. Police also attended to a residence in the south end of the city to keep the peace while an individual retrieved property from the residence. The matter was resolved without further incident. Police attended to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Fifth Street and Souris Avenue South. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, however no injuries resulted from the collision.  The driver of the eastbound vehicle on Fifth Street failed to yield to the northbound vehicle on Souris Avenue and was issued a summary offence ticket under the Traffic Safety Act.
