Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson issued an indoor masking mandate on a Tuesday Board of Supervisors meeting. The mask mandate is the least disruptive and the masking mandate has no economical effect on the local economy and will allow businesses to stay open. It will have the most immediate impact on Yolo County residents, Dr. Sisson said at the board meeting.

Last week, U.S. prosecutors dropped their case against Juan Tang, a visiting cancer researcher who spent the winter and spring of 2020 at the UC Davis Medical Center. Tang, who is from China, was charged with visa fraud for allegedly concealing ties to the Chinese military when she filled out her visa application to come to the U.S. Her trial was set to begin this week.

Yolo County on Tuesday ordered that everyone must wear a mask or face covering in indoor public spaces, regardless of vaccination status, beginning Friday.
In issuing the order, the county’s Health Department said the number of cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents has risen eightfold, from 1.2 to 10, since June 15, when the county lifted capacity limits and other restrictions on businesses and allowed vaccinated people to go unmasked in most settings.
