Herdsmen: OPC, Agbekoya, others vow to protect Yorubaland against invasion

Punch Newspapers Sections Sodiq Oyeleke Odua Peoples Congress, Agbekoya, Hunters Group, Isokan Ile Yoruba, Vigilante Group of Nigeria,  Ibarapa Group, and Community Society Awareness Initiative have expressed readiness to defend Yorubaland against invasion by killer herdsmen. In a communique issued after their meeting on Friday in Lagos, the groups, under the aegis of South-West Security Stakeholders, asked Obas and traditional leaders of Yorubaland to inform them of any invasion in their domain. A copy of the communique made available to our correspondent by  Mr. Kehinde Aderemi, Special Assistant on Media to Are Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba Land, Iba Gani Adams,  on Friday.

Igboho charges Nigerians to speak against killer herders

Punch Newspapers Sections Nike Popoola, Grace Edema and Daud Olatunji Yoruba activist, Mr Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, has called on Nigerians, especially the Yoruba, to speak up against the atrocities being perpetuated by herdsmen. Igboho in a zoom meeting early Wednesday with some Yoruba in diaspora advised the Yoruba people to come out and stand against the criminal and destructive activities of herdsmen,  adding that they had made the South-West a danger zone for the indigenes. The theme of the meeting was, ‘Update on security issues in Yoruba Land by Chief Igboho.’ He also described most of the Yoruba elders as cowards who had all gone silent over the herdsmen unjust killing of farmers, kidnapping, stealing of lands in South-West.
