Kota Kinabalu: More Sabah goods will be able to penetrate the China market, said POIC Sabah Sdn Bhd Chairman Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee.
He said this was possible with a recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the CAIQTest Innovation (Malaysia) Service Centre (CAIQTest).
The centre, Yong said, would lead to the setting up of a food testing and certification centre in Lahad Datu, where POIC Sabah is developing a regional processing and logistics hub.

“It also seeks the formalisation of procedures easing the certification of products aimed for the huge China market, including agro-based, aqua-based, edible oil, bird’s nests and downstream food products.

Kota Kinabalu: The Chinese community in then British North Borneo (now Sabah) upon realising that self-government or independence on its own will not happen, planned a high stakes gamble just before the proclamation of Malaysia to warn Britain’s Conservative Government that it should not be rushing the process.
They were worried that Malaysia was being formed in a such a hurry and that the interests of the locals in both the Borneo states may be compromised in the long term with pertinent aspects of the Malaysia Agreement (MA63) not being honoured by successive leaders in Kuala Lumpur.

“New developments at home and further afield is opening up new opportunities in hastening the achievement of our development goals, such as the industrialisation target set out in our Budget 2021,” said Yong, who is also SAPP President.
The Budget, themed ‘People’s Prosperity, Sustainable Economy’, was tabled by Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Mohd Noor. It sought an allocation of RM4.48 billion and, among other objectives, aimed to achieve a huge leap in the role of industrialisation in the State Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) will assist low-income families whose children have unpaid fees so that students can continue their studies at ease.

Appointed Assemblyman Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee expressed concern over the Chinese education in the State and said SAPP had made arrangements to help the families.
He said as the threat level of Covid-19 remains critical in Sabah, he has secured RM10,000 funding from the State Government to assist students of local private schools whose families are experiencing financial difficulties.

KOTA KINABALU: Lahad Datu will be turned into a centre for national and regional investment over the next ten years, says POIC Sabah chairman Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee.
He said that Lahad Datu would be turned into a major hub for the East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) through several proposed transformational initiatives. We are proposing an integrated international airport with a ferry terminal, a maritime academy, building towards being 5G-enabled, a gas-powered plant, food safety and certification facility, among others, Yong told the senior management team of POIC Sabah in his maiden visit to the company head office here.
