Augmented reality (AR) technology that helps workers visualise underground utilities is being trialled by contractor Morrison Utility Services in partnership with Vinci-owned highways specialist Eurovia UK.
The pair are deploying technology developed by Eurovia called Augmented Visualisation of Underground Services (Avus) in work for clients Thames Water and Yorkshire Water.
Avus lets onsite workers map and view underground services via Android smartphones or tablets. The layout of pipes and cables can be viewed in 2D plan form or as a 3D drawing overlaid on the device’s camera view, using real-time AR techniques.

VADODARA: Chief minister Vijay Rupani on Sunday evening collapsed while addressing a public meet in Nizampura area of Vadodara. Rupani, who was visibly unwell, was in Vadodara to address three public gatherings ahead of the civic body polls scheduled on February 21.
A bodyguard sensed something was wrong and tried to hold him but the CM collapsed even as BJP leaders who were on the dais rushed to his help.
Rupani was addressing the public rally at Mehsana crossroads after similar meetings in Tarsali and Karelibaug areas.
Talking to TOI, Rupani said he felt dizzy due to exhaustion. “Vadodara doctors also checked and said it may have happened due to exhaustion as I am constantly travelling. I am going to UN Mehta Hospital for further checkup.”

It had been a busy schedule for the minister since morning who was in Vadodara to address three public gatherings ahead of the civic body polls. The polls are scheduled for February 21. His first two gatherings were at Tarsali and Karelibaug. When he collapsed, he was addressing the third gathering at the Mehsananagar crossroads.
Rupani collapsed while he was on stage in the middle of his speech. After he appeared slightly shaky and wobbly while standing, the other leaders on dais rushed to help him.

Vadodara: The BJP may have made rules for ticket distribution that left many in the party surprised, but it surprised many again on Thursday by making exception to these rules. The party also decided to repeat only 15 candidates who were elected in 2015 and fielded eight others who had won in the 2010 polls or before. The list of candidates declared on Thursday evening provided a mix of young and veteran corporators.
With the party deciding at the last moment that former mayors will not be given tickets, the seasoned candidates did not figure anyone who had held the post earlier.
