“The protest is part of a 45-day programme chalked out by the Congress against the increased fuel prices,” JKPCC president Mir said Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president G.A. Mir was briefly detained in Jammu on Feb. 28 along with over a dozen party workers during a protest against the rising fuel prices, police said.

JAMMU, Feb 23: JKPCC chief, GA Mir has said that Congress party is the only truly secular, democratic and progressive force which can keep Jammu and Kashmir on the path of peace, progress and harmony while the forces of hatred would create wedge in the society and the regions for vote bank politics.
Mir was addressing a function at Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters, Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu, in which he and other senior functionaries of the party formally admitted and welcomed the several prominent activists from BJP alongwith their supporters in to the Congress party fold.
Those present on the occasion were Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla (vice presidents), Ravinder Sharma- chief spokesperson, Rajnish Sharma Co-treasurer, Yogesh Sawhney, Manmohan Singh ( general secretaries), DCC president Jammu Rural, Hari Singh Chib, Sanjeev Sharma- secretary, Balbir Choudhary, Vinay Shastri and others.

JAMMU, Feb 22: Dozens of Congress leaders and activists were arrested during massive prortest demonstration in Kachi Chawni area near BJP office in Old Jammu City here today.
Amidst growing apprehensions over imposition of Property Tax in J&K and continuously increasing petrol, diesel and gas prices, the Congress workers led by senior leaders and former Ministers Raman Bhalla and Yogesh Sawhney assembled near BJP office at Kachi Chawni during morning and held strong protest demonstration. They had proposed protest march up to Raj Bhawan at Panjtirthi to show their concern over anti-public decisions of BJP Government at the Centre and J&K UT Administration. They alleged that BJP Govt wasb making a profit by leaving people suffer in distress times.

JAMMU: The Congress’ Jammu and Kashmir unit on Monday slammed the Centre over the rise in petrol and diesel prices, saying the government has chosen to ‘profiteer off people’s misery’.
Members of the party staged protests here and demanded immediate rollback of the hike in the fuels’ prices.
The middle class and the marginalised are struggling. These challenges have been compounded by ‘run-away inflation and an unprecedented rise in the price of almost all household items and essential commodities’, Senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla said.
‘Sadly, in these distressing times, the government has chosen to profiteer off people’s misery and suffering,’ he said.
