Stacey Dooley meets virtually no-one as she films show on remote isle

With a travel case as pristine as her long black coat she had packed all the essentials normally required for an overnight stay. However, the star of TV series Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over was, perhaps, not quite prepared for the rough terrain on the remote isle of Gometra, where she had to manoeuvre the wheels of her luggage with the utmost care. On arrival at Gometra House Miss Dooley then realised that she had failed to pack a torch, the ultimate requisite on an off-grid island, for those sudden nighttime trips to the bathroom. This popular former winner of Strictly Come Dancing was, perhaps, also unprepared for the impact this island visit would have on her city girl ways, but what a difference a day makes.

Eco-warriors scale HS2 s London HQ and spray it with fire extinguishers full of pink paint

HS2 Rebellion protesters have climbed onto the top of the controversial rail line s headquarters and used modified fire extinguishers to paint it pink. Xavier Gonzalez Trimmer, 20, and Dr Larch Maxey, 48, clambered onto the canopy of building s lobby in Euston, central London, at 10am this morning clutching industrial spray paint machines.  Footage shows the pair showering the facade of the building in neon pink paint, to show their support of the Burning Pink Party, as police tell onlookers to stand back.  A fire engine and at least three police officers were at the scene this morning as the protesters tried to stop the development of the HS2 railway, claiming it will emit 14million tonnes of CO2.

HS2 s Kay Hughes: We see ourselves as catalysts for creative thinking

The design director of Britain’s biggest - and arguably most controversial - infrastructure project talks about her ambition to leave a legacy of quality structures and landscapes along the route

Work continues at Euston in preparation for HS2

Network Rail’s North West & Central region managing director Tim Shoveller said the rail operator was balancing the need to facilitate bank holiday journeys with the parallel need for essential railway improvements and maintenance . “It is fantastic to see more passengers return to the railway and we want to make journeys as easy as possible for those travelling over bank holidays, he said. “There is never an ideal time to shut the railway and we have worked hard to minimise disruption across the spring and summer – including moving work over the Easter and Spring bank holidays. As such, where possible Network Rail has moved planned work to minimise disruption for passengers needing to travel.
