El Presidente de la República, Iván Duque Márquez, expresó su confianza en que la delegación colombiana que representará al paÃs en los próximos Juegos OlÃmpicos de Tokio logrará el mayor número de medallas obtenidos por el paÃs en esta competencia.Â
El Jefe de Estado hizo estas declaraciones durante la entrega del pabellón nacional a la abanderada de la delegación, la bicampeona olÃmpica en BMX, Mariana Pajón.
âHoy les quiero también decir que no tengo duda alguna de que ustedes llegarán a Tokio, y ustedes, representando a esta tierra de atletas, van con la tarea, con la misión de traerle a nuestro paÃs el mayor número de medallas alcanzadas en unas olimpiadas. Venezuela has been very active on the World Judo Tour for several years. We wanted to know a little bit more about the team and their secrets. Kilmar Campos is the coach of the Venezuelan team. We met him on the last day of competition in Antalya. The Venezuelan delegation in Antalya My team is still under construction; it’s a work in progress. In 2017 we changed the direction of the federation and Katiuska Santaella was elected President. Since then everything changed and for the better. She knows judo very well, is a coach herself and she is a member of the IJF Education Commission. She knows how it is on the field.

Yuri Alvear is amazing judoka from Colombia and without a doubt the best ever in her country. She is triple world champion in 2011, 2013 and 2014 and won bronze in 2015, 2017 and 2018. She took Olympic silver in 2016 in Rio and an Olympic bronze medal in 2012 in London and was 7th in Beijing. Alvear won many Pan American Championships and she won Grand Slams in Baku and Brasilia among 12 IJF World Tour medals. The IJF Media team spoke about her new challenge as a coach.
